Calm Scene/Calm Process

Interestingly, the most helpful part of this process will not be thinking about the memory itself. It will be the process of moving from thinking about the memory to feeling calm. This allows us to see what it’s like to feel better in the present at the same time as you’re processing the difficult experience. We’ll touch on how this works a bit later.

For now, let’s find something that helps you feel calm. Use the search bar below and find a youtube video that you find relaxing, calming, or funny. Try not to overthink it. It just needs to shift your mood to something pleasant. Common examples include videos of cute animals, soothing landscapes, or running water.

Found a video? Do you feel it moving your mood in a positive direction? Perfect! Write down the title of the video for later use. If not, just keep looking until you find something that makes you feel good.

You can find alternative ways of creating a calm scene without a video in the Help section.
